Every one knows that girls can be confusing with their subtle signals and little mind games. This can be especially hard when you have the hots for someone and aren't really sure if they feel the same. Learning the signs and signals a girl gives when she likes you can help build your confidence to ask her out. Here are some of the most common ways to tell if a girl likes you.
1. She Actually Laughs at Your Jokes
A girl who is being attentive, laughing at all the right times and asking you to talk more is definitely interested. This is especially true if you know you're really not that funny. Laughing with you is a way of saying she enjoys your company and feels comfortable around you. If the girl is specifically going out of her way to laugh with you, she's encouraging you to share more.
However, it's important to know the difference between genuine laughter and nervous or anxious giggles. Pay attention to her facial expression and body language. If her eyes look happy and her body language is open, you're in the clear. A guarded expression or wandering eyes are indicators for you to move along.
2. Flirtatious Body Language
This is one of the most obvious signs, but many guys are oblivious to it. Flirtatious body language usually involves playing with her hair while she looks at you, crossing her legs toward you and light touches on your arms or legs. If she's really into, she'll take advantage of every opportunity to touch you or be close to you.
Of course, some girls are more reserved with their flirting, but you can usually tell by the amount of interest she shows in what you are talking about. Signs of subtle flirting are "accidentally" bumping into you, giving you random hugs and acting like "one of the guys" with soft punches and taps on the head.
Body language that is sending the opposite message includes crossed arms, inattentiveness and eye rolling. If she is generally avoiding contact with you and not paying attention to what you're saying, it's best to let it go.
3. She Asks if You Have a Girlfriend
If a woman is really attracted to you, one of the first things she wants to know is if you're available. Most women aren't afraid to ask this question directly. Women who don't ask flat out will get there through a round of questions that usually starts with "Who do you live with?" or something similar. Girls who show no interest in your personal life are probably not interested in being a part of it.
4. Try the Hi-Five Test
The hi-five test is a fun and innocent trick you can perform to see if a girl is into you. When she says something you like, put your hand up for a hi-five. At the end of the hi-five, gently hold onto her fingers for a second. If she jerks her hand away or her fingers remain limp, she probably doesn't have a crush on you. However, if she purposefully keeps her hand in yours or squeezes back, she's more than likely into you.
An alternative is to hold her hand if she needs to follow you somewhere. A girl that drops your hand as soon as possible is probably not comfortable touching you, but if she holds it and squeezes back, it's a good sign.
When a woman really likes you, she'll go out of her way to praise you. The compliment could be something as simple as she likes your shirt or praising you on a good basketball game. If she leans in and whispers a compliment to you, this is a strong sign that she's really into you.
Less forward girls might send you a text or Facebook message complimenting you on something rather than saying it to your face. If this happens, open up the conversation with something more than a "Thank you." This is a great way to help both of you get over your initial nerves.
6. She's Thoughtful
Generally, girls like doing nice things for the person they are crushing on. If she sees that a band you like is coming to town, she might buy you both tickets or she might help you study for that test you're really worried about. When a girl really cares about you, she'll also feel protective over you and express concern about anything that isn't gong well in your life. If you're down about something, she'll try to comfort you.
Another way that girls can be thoughtful is by remembering your birthday or baking you cookies for Christmas. If she brings you any type of gift or surprise, she really wants you to notice her and know that she cares.
Laughing with you is a way of saying she enjoys your company and feels comfortable around you.
7. Regular Casual Meetings
If you notice that a girl is starting to show up at your favorite hang-out place, she's probably trying to get your attention and find reasons to talk to you. Another indicator is if she starts showing up at your sports games and other after school or work functions. Girls intent on creating a connection will find ways to see you as often as possible. She might do something like change her jogging route to run through your neighborhood when she knows you're out to stop and say hello.
8. Her Best Friend Spills the Beans
This is most common in situations where both of you are too shy to make a first move. It might be breaking girl-code for some, but it's likely that her friend wouldn't spill the beans unless she had some sort of unspoken permission. The bonus to this is that it means her friend also approves of you.
